Bridport Jurassic Coast Run 10k 2019
11 August 2019
'Officially licensed Fell Race'
Online entries for the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run (10k and Half-Marathon) are now closed! You can still sign in on the day but unfortunately we won't have any medals left for entries on the day. However, in return we've reduced the entry fees on the day to £20 for the Half-Marathon and £15 for the 10k race. For more information please see Bridport Runners' website or our Facebook page.
Both races are, once more, classified as fell races by The Fell Runners Association (license number 2019-6112). Winning time for the 10k last year (and course record so far) was 44:21, run by Neil Wicks from Worcester Tri Club. The winning time on the half-marathon 2018 was 1:39:05 by Ruth Barnes from Avon Valley Runners who had won the half-marathon the previous year, as well.
For more information on the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run see Bridport Runners' website.
The current 10k course was established in 2016 when the race had its debut in West Bay. The half-marathon distance was also first run in 2016, with the loop to Seatown added in 2017, which runners in both races will have to do this year. Both races will start with the famous 'Broadchurch' cliff at West Bay in the background, leading runners all the way up to Thorncombe Beacon, then down to Seatown and back through Downhouse Farm, Eype to West Bay. The half-marathon consists of two loops.
The races are open for runners of all abilities from the age of 16 (10k) or 17 years (half-marathon).
Since its debut in 2013, the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run with its two races has grown to become both a community event and a recommended race among club runners from all over the Southwest. It has earned lots of praise from participants for its spectacular scenery, friendly marshals and good organisation (and the odd hill). The Bridport Jurassic Coast Run has been organised jointly by local community groups Bridport Runners and Brit Valley Rotary Club since its beginning.
