Event Description
This year, do something amazing for Invesco’s Charity of the Year, MIND, and help make sure nobody has to face a mental health problem alone.
Connecting Henley and London, Invesco UK employees will embark on a unique 1 day adventure, travelling from Henley along the Thames by canoe, bike and on foot.
Fitness / Medical Requirements
To enter this event you should be in good health and used to regular exercise. You are going to push yourself physically and therefore you should not have any serious medical conditions. If you have any doubt, you should take this event description and make an appointment to discuss with your GP.
When you fill in your registration form (including sections on medical and fitness) - please do ensure that you fill in the form accurately and honestly, this is a very important matter, and we want to ensure you are kept safe and well on the challenge.
Challenge Itinerary
Friday, 13th October 2017
• 07:30 - Meet Henley-on-Thames for event briefing
• 08:00 - Set out on canoeing stage (2 man canoes*)
• 10:15 - Arrive Hurley Lock
• 10:45 - Begin Cycle to Richmond
• 13:45 - Lunch (provided by Adventure CafeÌ)
• 14:45 - Depart on Foot for Portman square
• 18:15 - ETA for final walker to arrive at Portman Square
*You will receive a briefing and basic instruction in how to pilot your open canoe - it is important you remain with your leader on the water! You will be issued with a buoyancy aid and paddle as well as your canoe - which you will paddle as a pair.
Stage 1
Depart Henley on Thames by canoe
Approximate distance = 9.3 / 11km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 2 hours.
Arrive Hurley Lock or Temple Marina
Stage 2
Depart Hurley Lock or Temple Marina by bike.
Approximate distance = 45km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 3 hours.
Arrive Richmond
Stage 3
Depart Richmond on foot
Approximate distance = 16km
Approximate time to complete challenge = 3.5 hours.
Arrive Portman square
TIMED SECTIONS
Canoe: Mill End Weir to Hurley Lock = 5.7km
Walk: Cookham to Boulters Lock = 4.3km
Key Safety Instructions

You will be issued with full safety guidance in your joining instructions - but you MUST follow all safety instructions.

Unless otherwise instructed you should remain within visual contact of leaders / support vehicles

You MUST travel in ‘buddy’ groups - to ensure that in case of emergency there is someone present to assist.

Cost of Participation
Registration Fee = £60 per person; Fundraising Target = £350
(The Invesco Cares Foundation will match what you raise £ for £)
