welcome to the Chew Valley 10k
This is the official website for the newly established Chew Valley 10k. The race is brought to you by the Bishop Sutton Primary School PTA, in association with the Home and Kitchen Store. The event has been created to raise funds for the School PTA, while serving as a great event for the local area. Please keep up to date with news of the event from this website, and via our Facebook Page and Twitter Feeds.
the run
Whether it's your first race, or you are a seasoned runner in training for a summer or autumn full/half marathon race, the Chew Valley 10k is here for you. We are trying to create a new exciting event for the Chew Valley, NE Somerset. Yes it's time to RUN!
The Chew Valley 10k is officially licenced by UK Athletics (no2013-105434 should you need it) and organised using the UKA Rules of Racing. The event will use chip timing, and the course professionally measured to ensure accuracy.
There will be prizes for the first 3 male/female runners, as well as in a variety of catergories.
On the day
The race will start and finish at Bishop Sutton Primary School, this would be the perfect place for family and friends to gather to cheer on the runners. Refreshments will be available here, and more activities are is planned for race HQ.
For the runners, facilities for changing will be available at the school. Water stations will be plotted around the course, and First Aid cover will be provided by the Avon & Somerset Rescue Team.
We are proud to announce that the Chew Valley 10k is brought to you in association with the Home and Kitchen Store, Handmade kitchens and furniture based in Wrington and serving the Chew Valley.
the race route
The race will start and finish at Bishop Sutton Primary School, [Wick Road, Bishop Sutton, NE Somerset, BS39], and head out on the rural roads towards East Harptree in the shadow of the Mendip Hills. The challenge then comes in the shape of the hill up to Hinton Blewitt where your energies will be rewarded with wide views over the Chew Valley. The final stretch comes in the drop back into Bishop Sutton where the finish tape will no doubt be greeted with glee.
The course will be confirmed and measured by UKA.
