North Devon AONB Half Marathon 2014
29 June 2014
ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED AS EVENT IS FULL.
There hadn't been a marathon event in North Devon for some 20 years, until the first running of this event last year - and there had certainly never been one as spectacular and challenging as this! Centred around three idyllic beaches in North Devon, this race gives runners the opportunity to compete in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The route is challenging, with over 3300 feet of climbing so it will certainly test your resolve! In addition, the terrain underfoot will be a mixture of stone, gravel, turf, sand and tarmac over the coastal paths, cycle routes, fields, tracks, beaches and roads of North Devon. Just don't forget to watch the seals, birds and waves as you run by.
In true Devon style, runners will be given a delicious cream tea when they finish (but don't worry, water will be available as well!), and the real beauty of the start and finish points is that by being by Woolacombe beach is that the whole family can enjoy the 3-mile stretch of sand whilst you are running - a perfect day out for everyone! Don't forget your picnic or your bathers!
