Ashfords LLP is a leading national provider of legal and professional services.  We are committed to the communities in which we operate and our corporate social responsibility programme sponsors a wide range of local events and initiatives each year. The Bristol Varsity Series provides sporting activity for students, staff and Bristol’s community in the name of fun, rivalry and friendship. We are proud to be sponsoring the series 10K held at Bristol’s historic Harbourside.
Feedback on how we can develop the Varsity Series for 2018 onwards is very much welcomed, please do not hesitate to contact using the details below.
Event Partners:
Bristol Water
The pop-up water bar was born in 2016 with the aim of taking Bristol Water into the heart of the community, visiting festivals, giving away free water, encouraging people to refill with tap water rather than single use plastic bottles and promoting healthy hydration. It is developed in partnership with Refill Bristol.
Since its creation, the Water Bar has been touring around Bristol during the summer months and has also won three industry awards. One of our main goals this is year is to save 80,000 plastic bottles from going to landfill, and we believe the Varsity 10k event in April will move us closer to achieving this.
Also, if people can refill for free, they are likely to drink more and stay hydrated, which is extremely important at events like this. The Water Bar is free, and everybody is welcome for a free refill! Don’t forget to bring your own bottle!
Go Bites
The Go Faster Food team is absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the Varsity Series to help the students and residents of Bristol take positive steps towards a more active and healthy life. We are a Bristol-based company on a mission to inspire and help people fuel active lifestyles with relevant knowledge about what, when and how to eat to perform and feel better, both mentally and physically. We do this through our books and education programmes and with our delicious food products.
This partnership is extra-special for us, as it is at Bristol University's centre for Sport, Exercise & Health that Go Faster Food founder, Kate Percy, launched her first recipe book for athletes, Go Faster Food, way back in 2009. We're excited to be linking up once again providing participants with nutritional guidance and fuelling them with our all-natural energy balls, Kate Percy's Go Bites" (Kate Percy, Founder of Go Faster Food Ltd)
Sugar Smart
Bristol has a high level of illnesses related to eating too much sugar, so the council is taking action and has teamed up with the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation. Bristol has become a Sugar Smart City and has been engaging people across many different sectors and parts of the city – helping people to recognise where sugar is hidden in the food we all eat.
Sugar Smart Bristol is once again thrilled that the Varsity Series is providing a platform for Sugar Smart Bristol to engage with Students from both UWE and University of Bristol. Alongside a healthy diet, sport is a key element in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and this year we are encouraging all students to fuel their day with a healthy breakfast and to try to cook from scratch when they can.(Fi Argent, Ambassador, Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and SugarSmart Bristol)
It is great to see Varsity Sports continuing their involvement with our Sugar Smart Bristol campaign. We want to help support student’s physical and mental wellbeing and having a healthy diet is an excellent way to help them feel great. Fuelling their day with a healthy breakfast will give them more energy throughout the day and help them to reach their personal best.” (Cllr Asher Craig, Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Public Health)One of the ways we would like to develop the Series further is by introducing a comprehensive alumni Varsity programme to dovetail within the Series; so if you are interested, please get in touch with us.
