Run for the Trees!
Runners who wish to support the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum (charity number 293190) may apply to run the Westonbirt 10k for free and all of your sponsorship money will go to support the charity.
You’ll need to sign up in advance and agree to raise £75 or more. Your sponsorship will help to ensure that the arboretum can be enjoyed for many years to come. If you are unable to take part in the 10K, you will still need to reimburse the cost of the registration fee.
The minimum amount of £75 is exclusive of gift aid.
At least £50 of the £75 sponsorship must be paid to Friends of Westonbirt prior to the event, and the remaining sponsorship must be paid no later than two months after the event.
You must be 16 or over to raise money for Friends of Westonbirt and if you are under 18, permission must be given by a parent or guardian.
You’ll also receive a 10k t-shirt, a pair of tickets to Enchanted Christmas 2017 and tips for fundraising and training.
The Westonbirt 10k is a unique run held in the stunning Grade I Registered landscape of Westonbirt, The National Arboretum near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.
Home to over 15,000 specimen trees from around the globe, Westonbirt Arboretum is a well-established location for races. The course is mainly on compacted gravel paths and is overall a good running surface – although stony in places.
The route takes in the flat, ornamentally planted areas of the arboretum, as well as the steeper, native areas reached via a valley path.
There will be water stations at approximately 5.5km and at the end of the race. The course has been measured as 10k and there will be distance markers at each kilometre.
The race will be chip timed with prizes for the first three overall male and female.
There will be a memento for all finishers.
The categories are:
• Affiliated Entry: £14
• Unaffiliated Entry: £16
• Maximum participants: 1000
• No entries on the day
The start of the race is inside the arboretum – you will need to park in the main car park and enter through the Welcome Building to register, pick up your number and chip and make your way to the race start point. The registration desks are at the rear of the welcome building.
Registration opens at 4pm on Wednesday 24 May. The run starts at 7pm.
Runners are welcome to bring spectators with them.
Refreshments, ample parking and toilet facilities are available. Please note that we do not offer specific changing areas, lockers or storage facilities.
The arboretum’s postcode is GL8 8QS.
