Blackwater Valley Runners
BVR is a social running club. We have over 200 members, made up of roughly equal numbers of male and females of all running standards. The main club night is Wednesday and we meet at 6.55pm for a quick chat and club announcements. Then at 7.15pm we split into 7 or 8 different ability groups, all with group leaders, to run for between 4 and 10 miles. In Winter we use well lit routes, and do hill training, reps, fartlek etc. In Summer we often venture off road more. We organise running activities such as club handicaps, relays and away runs. There is also a social calendar including BBQ's, trips out and the annual awards dinner and dance. Please check our Facebook page for details. The clubhouse has great facilities, including 4 changing rooms with showers and a bar.
A note about UK Athletics (UKA) affiliation
UKA have changed the rules regarding entering races as part of a club. For many races, you may now only enter 'Blackwater Valley Runners' as your 'club name' if you are personally a paid up member of UKA. To make the transition to becoming a UKA affiliated runner a little easier on the pocket, BVR will put £5 towards the levy, leaving you to pay the remaining £10. Our standard club fees will remain unaffected, and we hope you will agree that £50 a year for membership of the best running club in the area, especially with the facilities we have, is a bargain.
If you affiliate to UKA we will provide England Athletics with your personal data which they will use to enable access to an online portal. England Athletics will subsequently contact you to invite you to sign in to the portal and check/update your details including your privacy settings. If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with England Athletics, please contact email@example.com.
