Profile

!! Coronavirus outbreak. Current government restrictions prevent our club from operating normally. We don't meet at our clubhouse to run on Wednesday evenings, and kit sales are suspended. Instead, we meet in small groups (of up to 6 runners) at various locations around Aldershot, on Wednesday evenings and also other days of the week. These mini group runs are posted on our private Facebook Group, so only club members can sign up to them.

If you're considering becoming a club member, as a first step you should contact us via the Contact Form on our web site (https://bvrunners.org.uk/contact-us/). We'll then arrange for you to do a couple of group runs with us.

After you've done a couple of runs and decided to join the club, you can come back here and fill in the membership details. Once you're a member, you'll be able to see all the mini group run events on our Facebook Group and sign up to them yourself.

As lockdown restrictions ease we'll adjust what we do. For example, we may start running in larger groups !!

BVR is a social running club. We have over 200 members, made up of roughly equal numbers of male and females of all running standards. The main club night is Wednesday and we meet at 6.55pm for a quick chat and club announcements. Then at 7.15pm we split into 7 or 8 different ability groups, all with group leaders, to run for between 4 and 10 miles. In Winter we use well lit routes, and do hill training, reps, fartlek etc. In Summer we often venture off road more. We organise running activities such as club handicaps, relays and away runs. There is also a social calendar including BBQ's, trips out and the annual awards dinner and dance.  Please check our Facebook page for details. The clubhouse has great facilities, including 4 changing rooms with showers and a bar.

A note about UK Athletics (UKA) affiliation

UKA have changed the rules regarding entering races as part of a club. For many races, you may now only enter 'Blackwater Valley Runners' as your 'club name' if you are personally a paid up member of UKA. To make the transition to becoming a UKA affiliated runner a little easier on the pocket, BVR will put £5 towards the levy, leaving you to pay the remaining £10.

If you affiliate to UKA we will provide England Athletics with your personal data which they will use to enable access to an online portal. England Athletics will subsequently contact you to invite you to sign in to the portal and check/update your details including your privacy settings. If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with England Athletics, please contact dataprotection@englandathletics.org.
