Taunton Athletic Club are once again pleased to be hosting the Wellington Monument Race. The race, on a slightly modified course this year, is just over 10k, with an elevation of 1090 metres.

Starting at 10:00 hrs from the Catherine Wheel pub in Hemyock village square, the route then climbs to and circles the Wellington Monument, returning along the same road to finish this year at Hemyock Parish Hall, after a lap of the field

There is a steep road ascent from the village of Hemyock up to the Wellington Monument, where there is 1 mile of firm stone track across National Trust land. Followed by a steep road descent. This is a hilly, scenic, rural course, that is on a mixture of roads and off road tracks. Unfortunately the hilly route makes this race unsuitable for wheelchairs.

The Wellington Monument (location) forms the half way point of the race, before returning to the finish at Hemyock Parish Hall, where a finisher award and festive, non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies will be waiting for all runners. 

Once again we will be using chip timing

A good range of refreshments will be available both before and after the race. Toilets are available, but sorry there are no shower facilities. Parking will be at the nearby Hemyock Football Club, Longmead Park. EX15 3SG

Race numbers are to be collected at the entry desk at Hemyock Parish Hall = Race HQ between 08.30 and 09:45 hrs on the morning of the race.

IMPORTANT NOTICES:   

No refunds will be provided. If the race is cancelled, then ‘Plan B’ date is provisionally 17th January 2027

Strictly no earphones allowed in accordance with EA rules.

The race limit is 300.

Minimum race age: 16

The cut off time for finishers is 1½ hours, from then on marshals will be stood down

DIRECTIONS

Hemyock is found by leaving the M5 at junction 26, follow the Wellington turning to the roundabout, turn left along the A38 for 1½ miles.

Turn left into Monument Road, follow the road to the very top of the hill to a crossroads, go straight across and follow signs for Hemyock.

Carry on through the village via Station Road, turn right into Longmead. Also signposted to Sports Centre. Parking is at the end of this road at Hemyock Football Club. Longmead Park EX15 3SG

New for the year RACE HEADQUARTERS ARE LOCATED AT HEMYOCK PARISH HALL EX15 3QW. From the football club, walk down Longmead, turn Right onto Station Road and  then after a short walk turn Left onto Fore Street towards the Post Office. The Parish Hall is opposite the Post Office

There is limited parking at the football club, so please car share if possible and be considerate when parking throughout the village
