The Wessex Wizards Triathlon Club was born from a small group of triathletes who started open water swimming at Weymouth in September 2007. The original group of eight has now grown to over 90 and, although still relatively small compared to some clubs, the Wessex Wizards are ambitious and continue to grow. The club has strong links with Yeovil Town Running Club, who allow Wizard members to join in with their coached training sessions. On 30th August 2009 the club organised their first event, the Oxley Triathlon at Sherborne in Dorset, an extremely well organised and impressive event that is sure to become a regular fixture on the triathlete calendar.
