Profile

Frome Tri Club was originally set up in 1993, when Triathlon was seen as a minority sport done by a few hardy individuals. For its first few years the club consisted of a small number of keen triathletes who were focussed on racing in particular and who managed to achieve national recognition for the club, with some members going on to compete for GB in international events. A number of the original members who set the club up are still actively involved including our president Pete Beech-Allen and our membership secretary Andy Poole.

For the past few years a number of Frome based triathletes have been training and racing together on a regular basis, with the numbers growing steadily. So as result of this renewed level of interest and greater national profile for the sport of Triathlon, the Frome Triathlon Club was officially reformed and reborn at the start of 2011. The club now aims to cater for all levels and is no longer primarily focussed on racing. Our main focus is to encourage as many locals as possible to be involved in the club- some of our members aim to compete regularly some just want to enjoy training with other like-minded individuals.

We recently appointed local fitness trainer and experienced triathlete Paul Ryman, as our Club Coach, who is supported by a number of other club members in organising and running our weekly training sessions.
